Jakarta Airport Train: Soekarno-Hatta to BNI City and Manggarai, Fares and Times

Short answer

The airport train (Commuter Line Basoetta, run by KAI Commuter) links Soekarno-Hatta airport with BNI City in central Jakarta in about 39 minutes and Manggarai in about 46, for Rp70,000. Take the free Skytrain from your terminal to the airport station. Since September 2026 there are fewer trains — 52 a day instead of 70 — so check the next departure before you walk over.

BNI City (Sudirman, central business district)about 39 minRp70,000

BNI City is the stop for most visitors: it sits on Jalan Sudirman beside Sudirman KRL station and close to MRT Dukuh Atas, so hotels in Thamrin, Sudirman and Menteng are one short ride away. Since 1 September 2026 BNI City has also replaced Karet as the KRL commuter stop there, so you can change to KRL trains without leaving the station area.

KAI Commuter runs frequent promotions — for example Rp50,000 fares over Christmas and New Year 2025/26 — so the ticket may cost less than shown.

Fewer trains since September 2026

On 10 September 2026 KAI Commuter cut the airport line from 70 to 52 trips a day, moving trainsets to commuter lines and calling the change temporary. We found no announcement that the full timetable has returned. With 52 trips the gaps between trains are longer; check C-Access or the station screens before walking to the platform, and leave a margin when you are heading to a flight.

From the terminal to the train

The airport rail station is at the Integrated Building, linked to Terminals 1, 2 and 3 by the free Skytrain (Kalayang). Trains run about every five minutes and take about seven minutes from Terminal 1 to Terminal 3. Follow the Kereta Bandara / Airport Railink signs after customs.

Holding a ticket for a specific train but running late? Under the reduced timetable KAI Commuter allows passengers to take the train before or after theirs, and refunds are handled at the airport station counters.

Other ways into the city

OptionCostTime to central JakartaGood for
Airport trainRp70,00039–46 min + transferPredictable time, avoids toll-road jams
DAMRI bus to Gambir, Blok M and othersRp80,000 (Thamrin City Rp60,000)1–2 h depending on trafficDirect to the bus stop near your hotel
Grab (GrabNow Airport) or BluebirdMetered or app price plus tolls45 min to 2 hHeavy luggage, groups, late nights

The toll road from the airport into the city jams badly in the afternoon and on Friday evenings, which is when the train is clearly faster. Late at night with luggage, a car to the door is simpler.

Leaving Jakarta by train

Allow at least three hours before an international flight: the train, the Skytrain to your terminal, and the queues for check-in, immigration and security. On the reduced timetable, aim for a train that reaches the airport no later than two and a half hours before departure.
