Bali Travel Budget 2026: What Things Actually Cost, From Arrival to Daily Spend

Short answer

Before you spend anything on holiday, entering Bali costs Rp650,000 per person (visa on arrival Rp500,000 plus the Rp150,000 levy) for most nationalities. After that, a careful traveller gets by on about Rp700,000–1,000,000 a day, a mid-range trip runs Rp1.5–2 million per person, and the main variable is accommodation: sampled mid-range Sanur hotels had median rates of about US$90–150 a night.

Getting from the airport

From our dated app checks on 10 May 2026 (standard car, early morning):

ToCheapest of Bluebird, Grab, Gojek
KutaRp44,000 (Bluebird)
SeminyakRp115,000 (Gojek)
SanurRp148,000 (Grab)
CangguRp185,000 (Grab)
UbudRp338,500 (Grab)

One car carries up to four people, so per person it is often less than a coffee and a cake. Full details and screenshots in the airport guide.

Where to sleep: what hotels actually cost

Accommodation is where budgets diverge. To get real numbers rather than “from” prices, we sampled Agoda rates for nine hotels in Sanur on 16 May 2026 — two adults, two-night stays, across 16 arrival dates in the following months. Per room per night, in US dollars:

HotelLowestMedianHighest

Hyatt Regency Bali134206283
Tandjung Sari211218238

Andaz Bali240295351

How to read it:

  • A good four-star beach hotel in a calm area costs around US$90–150 a night for two on most dates. Peak dates (July, August, Christmas) push the upper column.
  • Five-star properties in the same town start around US$200.
  • Guesthouses and homestays (losmen) in Ubud, Sanur or Amed go far lower, often under US$40, and are not in this sample. Canggu and Seminyak villas swing widely with the season.
