Bali Visa and Entry Requirements 2026: What You Need, in Order

Short answer

Bali uses Indonesia's visa rules. Most visitors need a Rp500,000 e-VOA (30 days, extendable once), 19 nationalities enter visa-free, and everyone fills in the free All Indonesia arrival card in the 3 days before landing. On top of that, Bali charges a Rp150,000 tourist levy per person. You also need a passport valid for 6 months and an onward ticket.

Visa: Bali follows Indonesia

There is no separate “Bali visa”. Bali is a province of Indonesia, and the national immigration rules apply:

  • 19 nationalities — the nine other ASEAN countries, Timor-Leste, Suriname, Colombia, Hong Kong, Macau, Brazil, Peru, Türkiye, Kazakhstan and Belarus — enter visa-free for 30 days, not extendable.
  • Most other visitors, including Europeans, Britons, Americans, Australians and most of Asia, need a visa on arrival: Rp500,000 for 30 days, extendable once by 30 days. Buy it online as an e-VOA before you fly.
  • Longer stays (61–180 days) need the C1 tourist e-visa, applied for in advance.

The full comparison is in which Indonesia visa you need, and the details of buying and using it in the visa on arrival guide. A fee increase for the VOA was announced in August 2026 but has not taken effect.

Arrival card

Since 1 October 2025, every passenger arriving in Indonesia fills in the All Indonesia arrival card: immigration details, address, health and customs in one online form. It is free, opens three days before your arrival date and ends with a QR code. Screenshots of every step: All Indonesia arrival card guide.

The Bali levy

Bali adds a Rp150,000 tourist levy per foreign visitor, once per trip, paid online or at the airport. It is separate from the visa. Children are not listed as exempt. Details: Bali tourist levy.

At Ngurah Rai airport

  1. Immigration: e-VOA holders and visa-exempt travellers with eligible passports can use the autogates where open; otherwise queue at the counters. Without an e-VOA, pay for the VOA at the bank counter first, then queue.
  2. Baggage and customs: show the arrival card QR code at the customs exit if asked.
  3. Levy: if you have not paid online, use the levy counter in arrivals.
  4. Out: get online and choose your ride — Grab, Gojek and taxis at Bali airport.

While you are in Bali

Note your last legal day (your arrival day counts as day one) and extend in time if you want to stay longer. Overstaying costs Rp1,000,000 a day.

Questions travellers ask

Which Bali visa do I need for a holiday?

For a holiday of up to 30 days, most visitors — including Australians, Britons, Americans and Europeans — need the visa on arrival (B1), ideally bought online as an e-VOA. If you may stay up to 60 days, take the same visa and extend it once. For 61–180 days you need the C1 tourist e-visa. Citizens of the 19 visa-exempt countries need nothing for up to 30 days.

Which website is the official one for the Bali visa?

evisa.imigrasi.go.id, run by Indonesian immigration, and its official partner indonesiavoa.vfsevisa.id. Sites that charge US$50–100 for the same visa are resellers.

How much is the visa on arrival in Bali?

Rp500,000 per person, online or at the airport (official pages, 4 November 2026). A rise to Rp750,000 online and Rp1,000,000 at the airport counter was announced in August 2026 but is not yet in force.

Do Australians need a visa for Bali?

Yes. Australians need a visa on arrival or another visa. Visa-free entry for Australians was floated by the tourism ministry in 2026, but it has not been introduced.

Is the arrival card the same as the visa?

No. The All Indonesia arrival card is a free declaration everyone fills in; the visa is a separate permit you pay for. In Bali you also pay the separate Rp150,000 tourist levy.
